First 100 Dollar Earning Online
Just about the time this blog got its first PR rating (PR1) and my other first ever ‘business’-site got PR2 (after 3 months), I also got to see my first ever 100 dollars earned online. The earnings were mostly due to my ‘business’-site which was optimized according to seo practices I’ve learned so far. This 100 dollars by the way was earned over a period of 3 months. That means my ‘business’ site is roughly just earning a measly 33 dollars a month. To most of you, this figure is really a pathetic excuse for an online earning. To me however, this is cause for excitement as I am at the moment being overwhelmed by ‘first’ experiences:
- first PR ratings
- first 100 dollar online earnings
- and that ‘business’ site is my first venture into adsense that really gets a click or two almost daily. Below is a snapshot of my adsense earnings. Note, again, that this is over a 3-month period. I have heard that there are parts that Google has supposedly disallowed us to show to others online so I have covered them up.
And below is my commission earnings at Amazon.
You see, the site (not this blog) is not purely ‘built for adsense’ because aside from having real informational content of value, I have also inserted my affiliate links from amazon. A lot of adsense purists say that there should be as few links as possible in the page so that the hungry click-happy reader has no choice but to click on the adsense links. I may have violated that ‘rule’ by adding amazon links and a few more sentences describing the pros and cons of each linked ‘product’. And I don’t know how much that violation cost me in terms of possible additional adsense earnings. But what the heck, the important thing for now is that both adsense and amazon is giving me hope that I can, after all, earn some money online. Maybe I’d proceed to follow their other advise – ‘rinse and repeat’. Then maybe I’d see better earnings coming in.
Hmmmn… I once saw some blogger’s tagline that goes along the lines of ‘follow me as I become an SEO master’ (or something to that effect). Maybe I’d have my tagline as ‘follow me as I learn to earn online’.

I think you should be excited about the $100 bro regardless of what others might think of it. I can remember my first online check was $5.10, I went on to make a little over $180k that year.
You never know where a journey might begin and you certainly never know where it might end.

Yes John is right, a $100 is a hundred dollars no matter how look at it. More power to your blog James and more $100 to come.

ark: You’re right ark. I found that I really have a lot more ground to cover yet when it comes to learning about SEO. Besides being such a vast field, it is also shifting and moving. Every now and then something changes and you have to catch up with it. Thanks.

Guys, actually I haven’t received the checks yet. I just am celebrating the moment the earnings hit the 100th dollar mark. Now I can’t wait to see the actual checks arriving.
Nice! Can we know the business blog? We have the same niche, I suppose. Congrats! As for me, it took me way beyond 3 months to earn my first $100 in adsense. It really requires hardwork.

And congratulations on being featured on Manila Bulletin! I hope I’ll get featured too in some newspaper even if it be just our local city newspaper here down south (CDO). But I suppose that would happen only in the far future when I finally find a real specific ‘niche’ for this blog. Because for now, it’s floating in niche-less limbo. 
As for the other site, no it’s not about how to make money or anything. It’s just a 5-page site that focuses on one particular product’s keyphrase. I was inspired to venture into adsense thanks to the threads of XFactor down in warrior forum.
One thing I have learned in this business is that ‘hungry click happy readers’ readers don’t exist and therefore maximizing your return by having more options, in my opinion, is the smart way to go.

@Sire: Then I think my move to add amazon product links on top of adsense was right after all, Sire. The ‘hungry click-happy readers’ thingy is just something I picked up from my researches. Of course, like most ‘theories’ and ‘ideas’, there’s only one way to find out if it’s true or not. I’m learning as I go, I often say, and you guys and your experiences as written in your blogs, most of the time, make things easier for me as I don’t have to re-invent the wheel in a lot of areas.

but I thought ‘First $100′ sounds better than ‘First $200′. It’s my first $100 from Adsense, and my first $100 from amazon. They both seem to have hit the 100th dollar mark within a few days of each other.
I did use a widget on the sidebar but i think the ones that get clicked more are the text links right within the article that I posted on the pages; you know, the kind of text link that when you hover on it, some kind of floating box displays the image, availability and price of the product.
