I carry it with me wherever I go. It's almost like a security blanket for my files. I am looking at a 1T drive to store in a safe place just in case anything happens to my smaller drive. I really believe in redundancy. You can't back up too often in my book. My house was broken into a couple of weeks ago. They stole my 6 year old desktop. I really miss the software that was installed on it over the years, but all my files were backed up! Everyone who has files they need should have external backup! It was a must because I had almost used up all my computer's hard drive and it was slowing everything down. Once I got the external drive I merely transferred as much stuff to it as possible and the computer speed went almost back to normal. As for the size of that baby, like Brian said, it's pretty small. Now who was it that said that good things come in small packages? ;) I remember when I got my first external drive. I was amazed at how small that was when it first came out. What are we going to do when the entire World's data fits in your pocket? I was going to guess that first folder was created when you first attempted installation and it didn't complete the job. They should have explained upfront that it was going to create a separate folder for program files.
