Me and my son have just completed watching the whole of the Stargate Atlantis series. I’ve posted about this in ‘Star gate Atlantis Episode Online‘. Like I said in that post, I realized only later, when we were somewhere around the 3rd Season, that there are 3 Stargate TV series shows and the proper order is:
- Stargate Atlantis
- Stargate Universe
We should have watched the shows in that order, but since we were already in the middle of SGA, we decided to go ahead and complete it before backtracking to SG-1. Well, we’re now unwillingly leaving SGA behind as we began the first of the SG-1 series.
The first episode of SG-1, ‘The Torment of Tantalos‘ found us adjusting and getting to know the new characters. After watching this episode, we talked about the characters in terms of ‘the McKay equivalent’ or the ‘the Shepard equivalent’ inasmuch as we haven’t memorized their names yet. While my son, by the way, thought that the main character in SGA was Shepard, I sometimes think it’s actually McKay, inasmuch as he’s the one with the most exposure, the most dialogue, the most brilliant mind. He talks so much there are moments where I feel like I’ve had enough of his chatter. But I found that you can’t really hate him.
In ‘The Torment of Tantalos, I think we had a glimpse of the young Dr. Carson Becket. I haven’t researched about it so we thought that either the character was someone who looked like him or was actually Paul McGillion when he was still so young and cool. His accent however was kinda different. Yeah, it’s weird watching a “prequel“. Fills you with aha’s and confusion.
I continue to be amazed at the genius of the show’s producers/writers Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper. I am not much into writing so I couldn’t begin to judge how they fare in this area. But one thing I know is that I am and continue to be entertained by their work. Such gifted people.
For those who want to watch Stargate SG-1 online, please check out my earlier post, Star gate Atlantis Episodes Online, and follow the method I chose to watch all the episodes. If you’re into sci-fi, you’ll find yourself quickly becoming a fan, I promise.
