Prior to New Year’s eve, I finished reading the last book of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn. The Twilight Saga consists of 4 books.

I have earlier written something about the New Moon movie or my anticipation of it a few months before it was released. I can’t help it, I just find stories of this type interesting. Several years back, I have watched ‘Interview with a Vampire’ and thereafter have read all of Anne Rice’s series-novels about the life of vampires. Then 2009 brought my attention to Stephinie Meyer’s Twilight saga.

A few months ago, New Moon was released as a movie starring, of course, the same actors who played the characters in ‘Twilight’. One thing I noticed with the ‘New Moon‘ movie is that there were relevant parts which were left out in the movie, which, like I said in my earlier post is understandable in that it is not easy to condense a story spanning months or years into a 2-hour movie. So, I feel that in order to appreciate and understand the movie to the fullest, it’s good to have read the book beforehand. Also, while I thought that Kristen Stewart was just perfect for the role of Bella in ‘Twilight’, I find that her acting is wanting in ‘New Moon‘. I wonder how she’s gonna handle ‘Eclipse‘ and most especially ‘Breaking Dawn‘ which I believe should require a lot from her.

In Eclipse, I was sort of disappointed because I thought she’d undergo the ritual of change from mortal to immortal in this book. She didn’t. Nevertheless, Eclipse, when it comes to real vampire action and fight scenes, proved to be the best among the 4 books. It is here where the unlikely alliance of vampires and werewolves (or should I rather say ‘shape shifters’) were dramatically played out. After visualizing Eclipse‘s action highlights, I was anticipating more of the same (or even better) in ‘Breaking Dawn‘. The anticipation was ‘mouth watering’ (I also remember James saying that to Bella). But my mouth watering

anticipation was never consummated fully. Of course, it was foolish of me to expect the actual downfall of the Volturi. How else could Stephenie Meyer add a possible ‘unexpected, due to public demand’ 5th book to the Twilight saga if Aro, Caius or sadistic but cute Jane is gone? Until another coven to coven encounter happens, someone like Jane, or Aro (and Caius most especially) could not rest until they could assert once more the superiority they used to believe was theirs.
